Big City Dreams
Dream. A simple word but pretty abstract. There's a quote regarding to dream, I remember pretty vividly. It is a quote by Alex Gaskarth the lead singer of a band All Time Low. He said:
"Dreams Don't Always Have to Come When Your Eyes are Shut and The Sun is Down"
Pretty much he tried to deliver an example that most people dreamed of dreams when they are asleep, but dreams are actually essential to kept in mind, even when you are wide awake. Most people have dreams, it's necessary, you gotta keep those dreams alive. I am a true believer of dreams. Well not just dreams, but dreams with plans. I call it a goal. (or you can just say it a dream, it's up to you).. and I am in chase of my dreams.. You gotta too! I strongly believe that people can chase their dreams, and it's real. Now, tell me, who, in their wildest dreams, childhood dreams, dreamed of living in some sort of a DISNEY WORLD ? Your dream's been granted! Now.. we have 'DONALD and MICKEY side by side, ruling The Uncle SAM.. one of the most powerful country in the world. Quite literally.. It's not exactly the example you wished for, but that's just the example of impossibility doesn't exist..
Well speaking of the dreams.. Let's talk about it. Here it is..
(you can read this entire post about dreams, which alter my perspective toward the horizon, and how it thrust me to where I'm heading next, and probably inspire you.. or if you don't like dreams and subtle things, just skip it off now, I'll take about real thing in new post, coming up next week.. JK just read on :P ..... it's worthy)
The idea for this dream came up almost two years ago I think. I went to Brawijaya University in Malang for undergraduate degree. The town was amazing, in case you wonder. The landmarks was awesome, the culinary was delightful, the weather was..... perfect.. (it glued you to the bed).. and the people were nice.. It was a whole new experience for me, I was born in Jakarta, stayed there for almost seven years and then moved to Bogor, finished my high school there and went to Malang for college. four years there, the memories of the town stick in my head and I instantly adore the way they do the city. You gotta visit it one day, you'd love it there.
That snap was one of my favourite spot in the City, took it a day before I went home.. the remarkable Boulevard. You could've just sat there hanging around. It turns into Parade's lane every Sunday morning in car free day.. just one out of so many lovely place in the town.. I spent almost 4 years in Malang.. it was a dazzling 4 years really.. I like it there, like most people that went into college, they somehow bonded to the city that they went into, plus the town itself was so cosy..
Shortly, closing into the final stage of college, there was this.. internship program that you have to do for 30 days or more. It was an honour for me to do the internship at Indonesian Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology in Jakarta.. so yes, this mandatory internship brought me back to the city I was born in. It's been years, since.. like I told u before, since I move out to smaller town, Bogor and Malang..
I remember when I was younger, well toddler till young boy.. my parents used to take me around every Saturday's evening, around the 'Capitol', almost every week, just strolling around, seeing Jakarta's landmarks, filling my head with milestones. Years later, It was joyful for me, for real, to be back to that city as someone new.. it's like walking down the memory lane, just as completely different person, new responsibility, whole different story..
" Well, that's the turning point.. when a dream sparks in my head. "
Big city is, for some reason, not the most comfortable place to live in. Including Jakarta.. that's obvious.. traffic, population, pollution.. only mere handful numbers of reason that you could think of.. overall, there's rational thinking that you better live in a less-metropolis city.. I did even read a research journal once, living in a big city increase the risk of developing dementia in your late-age.. pretty reasonable, rite?
Now that I'm back after a while.. " But hey, isn't that.. just feel good sometimes?" to be actually in it.. to be a part of the crowd.. part of this living structures.. especially for those who are actually come from Big Cities and been away a while from it.. you kinda miss the ambience, the spotlights, the life there.. and the next thing I know, the sparks in my head just ignited the fuse and soon it turned into a blazing inferno.. a dream had just lighted up.. I called it a 'Big City' dream.
I stopped and thought to myself.. life's been like a journey you know.. I was first born in Jakarta, moved to Bogor and Malang, then who knows where I'm going next.. and with this fuelled dreams in me, I said to myself.. Wouldn't it be nice if the next place I'm going is a big city.. Now, I am halfway there.. (kindly read my previous post to see where I'm leaving next ;) )

The city after, and the city after? who knows.. Life's a journey, so why put a border on it? It's gotta be great, don't you think? with this dreams, then I know we can, not only, step our foot there but step by step conquer these dreams.. staring at those landmarks.. not from your laptop's screen.. from your eyes' lens..

" ...I gotta go there one day. Gotta work it out so.. Gotta climb your way to the top of the mountain... " said myself
When you dreamed of dreams at nights, while your eyes're shut, the moment you awake.. it's gone.. you can't repeat that over again.. But, friends, when you dreamed of dreams when your eyes are wide open.. You have your whole-self to make it real.. to could actually have it in the grasp of your palms.. So I decided to make it true.. I stepped outside and started building my pathway.. climbing step after step. planning goal after goal.. let the dreams I dream walk its way.. "You should too, Pal"..

Yet again, If I can live it this dream and bring it into real life.. then you can too.. you just have to sparks those lights on, let the dreams lead you.. Whatever version of your dream is.. Please.. by under no circumstances, don't let other tell you otherwise.. You live your life, not them :)
Hope all these can give you a rush of spirit to go through.. feels good to share
